*Note* Wish Lists Return to WDC! *Note*
Our Wish List system is finally back! Since opening our new Shop last year, our wish list system has been
unavailable. It is now back and ready for your wishes!

To add items from the shop to your wish list, head to Our Shop from the top of any page and start browsing the
products. When you find something you'd like, click the Add to Wish List button!

To check the Wish List of another member, visit his or her portfolio and click the Member's Wish List link.
Alternatively, head to Our Shop, click Send a Gift! and enter the member's username.

*Note* Anonymous Gifting in the Shop! *Note*
Our Shop now allows you to anonymously send products from our shop to members of Writing.Com!

Members can opt-out of receiving anonymous shipped gifts by editing their shipping preferences. This area can be accessed by
going to My Account *Right* Edit Personal Information... or go directly there with the following URL:
          http://www.writing.com/main/my_account/action/edit_personal

** Two Additional Updates:
1) We've added two new links in the shop: Best Sellers and Most Wish Listed. These help you easily find the most popular product in Our Shop! *Smile*

2) I received a number emails about adding memberships to wish lists. I'm still deciding what to do about that, but I believe we're just going to make paid memberships automatically appear on wish lists for anyone who has their Paid Membership Information Privacy account preference set to public.

Thanks!

We're please to announce the winning entries to "Limericks! Limericks! Limericks!, part of our 8th Birthday Celebration. Thanks to everyone that entered and congratulations to the following winning entries:

1st Place (250,000 GPs)
By: KimChi
In the vast swirling sea of the net
rose a site, quite as deep as youll get:
a free port for your writes
stow your romances, fights--
so dive in, friend, and get your feet wet.

Eight years it has served to inspire
setting authors and readers afire,
with awards for met goals
badges, statics, and polls--
all the zeal your ideals require.

Its your right to write right from the heart;
with conviction, your fiction turns art.
Lift a quill; feel your muse,
the sweet breeze of reviews--
may you write on; right heres a fresh start.

2nd Place (100,000 GPs)
By: Xander Riley
A story's a seed to be sown;
It haunts you, won't leave you alone.
It will gnaw at your brain
And will drive you insane
'Til you give it a life of its own.

It is born when committed to ink,
And you're in control, so you think.
But it grows like a weed
Once it's finally freed,
Leaving writer on sanity's brink.

Your character acts for himself,
As into the plotline he delves.
Your ego inflates
As you eagerly wait
For that day that your book hits the shelves.

3rd Place (50,000 GPs)
By: ßlueyeʐ
'Twas the evening before the due date,
When my labor began about eight.
With much pacing and sweat,
A few tears and cursed threat,
Soon, perfection I'd surely create.

Now, as Writing.Com celebrates,
My first lim'rick is born and it's great!
To the contest, I'll get,
But soon sigh with regret,
For my entry is minutes too late!

Honorable Mention (25,000 GPs)
By: northernwrites
"Celebr-Eight"
Shoot off fireworks into the blue:
More improvements have staged their debut!
Near the end of Year Eight
A significant date
Brought the Story's a reason to coo.

Army Angels review new tale-spinners.
Rising Star sponsors soon-to-be winners.
Simply Positive's forum
Calls for tasteful decorum
While the Holding Pond cheers on beginners.

Fill your port as your items accrue
Purple stars and in-depth critiques, too,
Here all levels of skill
Treasured dreams can fulfill,
And there's always a challenge that's new.

Item headers now have a more clean and condensed display. The "Show Details" link expands the header to include more information about the item.

The "Always Show Details" link in any header's details area will set your account to default to have the details expansion open on all items you view. Once activated, clicking the "Always Hide Details" link will turn the option off.

Enjoy! *Smile*

We've set the screen width on Writing.Com to be "fluid". Rather than be confined to a rather small width, Writing.Com's content area will now expand to use the full width of your web browser. The size we had originally picked in 2000 was based on the average monitor size. I've been viewing the site with this new change for about 6 months and felt it was time to move it to the site as whole.

** UPDATE: The Content Width setting in your My Account -> Edit Preferences area allows members to set the width of their pages. The default is now set to "Fluid - To Browser Edge". Content Width is an existing account value, so if your content is not fluid, it is probable that you have the old value already set.

** UPDATE (9/20 @ 11:30pm): Ok, completely fluid to browser's edge can be a bit crazy looking for those who fully open their browser on a widescreen monitor. *Wink* As such, I've adjusted the default to be fluid to a maximum of about 1,200 pixels total browser width. The "Fluid - To Edge of Browser" is still there, but as an additional option rather than the default...

For many, many (many) moons, members have request a "Review Only" option, without ratings.
It has arrived.

The Reviews Only; No Ratings option is now available. Within the item create/edit area members will find there are now 4 different rating/review options to serve the various wants of the community.

Items set to the new Reviews Only; No Ratings act like all other items, except they do not provide the option to rate the item on the 1 to 5 scale. The items accept only reviews for feedback.

We've left the "Email Comments" option in for those members looking for more casual feedback and looking to eliminate anonymous reviews.

We hope this helps!

Greetings!

We've activated the "comments" section for all book items setup as a "Journal/Blog". (Previously the comments system was only activated on book set to be a member's "My Blog".

[Edit: This feature can be Disabled using the "Blog Commenting" setting within a Book Item's create/edit screen.]
